Justin Bieber fans making Selena Gomez’s life a misery

Selena Gomez has reportedly been calling Justin Bieber in tears after receiving death threats from his fans.
The Disney sweetheart has been flooded with hate mail from her fella’s admirers - who call themselves Beliebers - ever since they attended The Vanity Fair Oscars party together in Hollywood last month.
“It’s hard. It hurts, it really does,” the Sun quoted Gomez as saying.
“I don’t feel I’m doing anything wrong, I’ve been best friends with him for a very long time.

“It does hurt my feelings a lot but I try not to focus on it - I have a strong family and great fans,” she added.

LeAnn Rimes defends her slimmer figure

LeAnn Rimes has fired back at criticism over her weight loss.
Less than a month after the singer posed on a red carpet with gaunt-looking arms, new pictures reveal the music star has become even thinner.
The photos taken last Friday show Rimes - walking with fiance Eddie Cibrian - and her tiny frame now carrying a sunken neck and bony legs.
Multiple reports have claimed the singer may have gone too far while dieting and working out to prepare for her upcoming wedding.
But Rimes defended her new body and also argued that the pictures are misleading.
“Maybe it’s time for a nude pic, so peeps can see how I look nowhere near what these stupid pics are trying to make me look like, LOL joke,” the New York Daily News quoted her as tweeting.
“I don’t care about the dumb articles. I know how healthy I am. Maybe those people should start taking care of themselves ... inside and out,” she wrote to one Twitter follower on Wednesday.
On Thursday, when another user suggested Rimes may have an eating disorder and told the crooner “this [is] bad for girls who look up 2 u,” Rimes again defended herself.
“I take care of myself, eat what I want without putting crap into my body and am at a healthy weight,” she wrote.

Chris Brown blames ‘reckless’ girls for leaked nude photos

R ‘n’ B singer Chris Brown has blamed the recent nude photos of his that surfaced on the Internet on reckless girls.
In an interview with Toby Knapp of DC station Hot 99.5, Brown, 21, said he did not believe they were his photos until he saw them.
“It was a shock. You kinda gotta be like, ‘No, I guarantee it’s Photoshopped’. It was like, ‘No, that’s not me’,” the New York Post quoted him as telling the radio station.
“They always say I got a naked photo out so I was like, ‘Cool’, but when I saw it I was like, ‘Oh, damn, I kinda did take that picture’,” he revealed.
Brown reportedly took the photos after a shower and sent to an unidentified woman who leaked them online.
Knapp asked him what his mother said about the nude shots.
“I haven’t talked to my mother about that yet, so I’m a little nervous,” he said.
“She’s gonna be like, ‘What is wrong? Why is your [bleep] all out?’ She’ll probably just tell me to watch who I be sending the pictures to-if you gonna do that, don’t be sending them to no . . . Girls be reckless.
“It’s like, ‘Hey there’s nothing else I can be ashamed of’. It’s like, ‘Whatever’,” he added.

1 in 5 youngsters in UK has television in their bedroom by the age of four

A survey has found that one in five children in Britain aged four and younger ask for TV sets to be put in their bedrooms.
The growing trend has critics fearing that the TV sets are replacing parents in terms of soothing, entertaining and even educating youngsters.
According to research by retail analysts Mintel, some 17 percent of all parents say they have a television in the bedroom of children aged four and young.
Young parents are particularly keen on the idea of technology with more than one in four - 28 percent - putting TVs in the rooms of under 4s.
To older generations, the idea of putting a TV in a bedroom is tantamount to child abuse, amid claims it leads to isolation, poor development and social skills.
However, this stigma does not apply for younger parents raised in homes where TVs are turned on from they moment they wake up to the time their heads touch the pillow.
The Mintel research found that, in general, parents from the poorest background with the fewest educational qualifications were most likely to put a TV into the room of a baby or toddler.
Single parents were also more likely to rely on the technology in the bedroom, at one in four - 25 percent - versus 13 percent of married couples.
However, this is not exclusively an issue for poorer families. Mintel found one in ten of families with the most wealth and education have put a TV into the baby’s room.
“The widespread use of electronic babysitters in children’s bedrooms is not only placing children at risk of exposure to unsuitable material, but it is also destructive of family life,” the Daily Mail quoted director of the Family Education Trust, Norman Wells, as saying.
“Technology is a good tool, but a poor master and can have a damaging effect when it reduces the amount of time family members spend together in shared activities.
“A growing dependence on electronic gadgets and technology may be a contributory factor to the marked decline in the verbal communication skills of children and young people that has been noted in recent studies.
“Since children are impressionable, and television is a powerful medium that can influence mood and behaviour.
“It is important for parents to exercise control over what their children watch and that is not easy to do when the television is shut away in the privacy of the child’s own bedroom,” he stated.
There is research to suggest a growing number of children are beginning school without the ability to hold a conversation because they have spent their formative years in front of the box.

Salman surprises Manjrekar with ‘Bodyguard’ offer

Salman Khan is known to ask people close to him to do the oddest of things at the oddest hours. It is therefore no surprise to know that he rang up Mahesh Manjrekar recently with an offer that the director-actor couldn’t refuse.
‘You’re in ‘Bodyguard,’ he told Manjrekar, who has been angling to get Salman to listen to his script for a film that he has been meaning to direct with the star in the lead for a year now.
Now Manjrekar has to join the ‘Bodyguard’ team from April 3.
The funniest part of Salman’s film offer is that Manjrekar is clueless about what he’s supposed to play.
‘He hasn’t told me what I play in ‘Bodyguard’. He has just asked me to join the unit. I don’t mind. I never ask him about my role because I know he’s asking me with a good role in mind. I think Salman prefers me to be an actor. He keeps offering me roles in his films. I don’t get a chance to direct him at all,’ said Manjrekar who directed films like ‘Vaastav’ and ‘Astitva’.
Ever since Manjrekar appeared as the main villain in ‘Wanted’, Salman considers Manjrekar as his good luck mascot. Even in ‘Dabangg’, he was cast as Sonakshi Sinha’s father.
For Anees Bazmi’s ‘Ready’ too, Manjrekar was not told what his role was until he arrived on location in Colombo.
‘When I landed there I realised I had a positive role in ‘Ready’. Thank god, I wasn’t playing a lecher. It was becoming tough for my 17-year-old son to explain to his friends why his father was always playing leery characters. Hopefully, in ‘Bodyguard’ too I’ll have a positive role,’ said Manjrekar.

I consider myself labour class: Shah Rukh

He might be called the Badshah of Bollywood, but superstar Shah Rukh Khan considers himself labour class.
‘I consider myself labour class as I like to maintain an active lifestyle. I like to work all day round and when it is taken away, it affects me mentally. And that percolated down to my family... as a result, everyone in my house also becomes sad,’ said Shah Rukh while speaking at the India Today Conclave here Friday.
The actor has been dealing with a problematic back for a long time which has slowed him down.
Shah Rukh says he enjoys sharing his life with his fans as he has worked hard to achieve where he stands today.
‘All my life I have worked so that I can be recognised. I want thousands of people to scream my name out. I want girls and youngsters to tear my clothes. I have worked very hard to achieve this, then I find it very stupid when I see stars hiding their faces.
‘I want to be disturbed and troubled by people for as many years possible. I want to be remembered as ‘he tried and he tried very hard’,’ he added.

Actress Katie Holmes and her business partner Jeanne Yang have created a fashion range under their banner Holmes & Yang for working mothers.
‘Sometimes when life gets really busy and you don’t want to have to think about what it is you’re going to wear, and you just want to have certain pieces that you know you can just depend on - what are those pieces? And so that was kind of our challenge,’ femalefirst.co.uk quoted Yang as saying.

SRK’s three essentials to make Hindi films global

Bollywood lacks three very essential skills - screenplay writing, technology and discipline - says superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has been in the industry for almost two decades.
‘Hindi films lack in three very important aspects of filmmaking. The first amongst them is screenplay writing. We need to understand the format and adhere to screenplay writing technique like them (Hollywood). The sooner Indian filmmakers realise that screenplay writing is not an art form but a science, the faster our films will globalise,’ Shah Rukh said Friday at the India Today Conclave.
‘Secondly, I feel so odd that on one hand we have the biggest software developing industries of the world, but somehow we are lacking behind in it’s usage in India. We have the means to buy the machines, but we don’t have mechanics to stand by them. That is a big investment we are looking for from Hollywood.’
‘We need our own people who can make us our own cheaper, better, faster software for visual-effect teams,’ he added.
‘The third important thing that we need to learn is the discipline with which they (Hollywood) do their business. It does exist in other sectors, but it is lacking in the film industry.’
‘If our industry wants to thrive economically, we also need to figure out and learn ways of selling our dreams to the largest number of people in the shortest span of time. We need to learn the science of marketing from them,’ he said.
The actor also felt that if one didn’t understand the importance of these aspects, sooner our young audience will stop watching our own domestic product.
At the same time, Shah Rukh felt that Indian filmmakers need to maintain their own individuality.

Peaches Geldof photographed taking part in five-in-a-bed orgy

Photographs of socialite Peaches Geldof taking part in a five-in-a-bed orgy have surfaced.
Peaches, 22, daughter of Sir Bob Geldof, is seen in the photos, which expose her wild lifestyle during a bender in Los Angeles, squeezed between two girls’ naked bodies.
Peaches, is said to have become embroiled in a debauched lifestyle last year after falling in with a gang of hard-partying pals.
In one picture she is sprawled naked across a car bonnet - in the middle of a suburban street, and another shows her pushing her bum in the air with the words “Gangsta Princess!” scrawled across it.
Sources claim the wild antics led to Peaches’ love split from film director Eli Roth.
“Peaches was involved with a lot of hipsters, only attending the coolest parties - or those deemed the coolest,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.
“These people thought it hilarious to whip their clothes off in public and take photos.
“Most are spoilt little rich kids who don’t have to worry about money and spend their time getting wrecked. Their lifestyle’s ridiculous. Peaches was swept along,” the source added.
Peaches later dumped her LA party mates and is now focusing firmly on her career in the UK.
“It all got out of control and Peaches left. She’s a changed person now, she cleaned up her act and is really working on her career,” a friend said.
“She’s highly motivated and determined to be a success. She’s left these friends well behind,” the friend added.

It disturbs me to see filmmakers chasing crossover cinema, says Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan believes that the Indian movie industry is at its best times and says people should focus on globalising it instead of chasing crossover cinema.
‘The world is looking at India... But I have an aversion to one word - it disturbs me that all Indian filmmakers are chasing an elusive dream of crossover cinema,’ Shah Rukh said Friday at the India Today Conclave.
‘It is nothing at all - there is nothing known as crossover film. If there would have been one, our smarter cousins Hollywood would have made crossover films in America and taken over Indian film industry. We should think of taking over, we should be thinking of globalising Bollywood,’ he added.
With studios like Warner Bros, Sony and Disney coming to India and making Hindi and regional films, Shah Rukh feels that: ‘We need to have give and take relationship for the western cinema. We need to welcome Western films with open arms.’
‘Let them enjoy the benefits of investing in this growing Indian TV and film market, make alliances and allow them to make films here because we are cheap when it comes to expenses.’

Single screen cinemas in Maharashtra to go on strike

Single screen cinema halls in Maharashtra will go on a one week strike from March 25 to demand the reduction or abolishment of entertainment tax.
‘Yes, we are going on a strike because we want to protest against the huge entertainment tax that we pay. We want it to get abolished or at least reduced. We have sent the government many letters requesting the same, but the government has not paid any heed,’ R.V. Vidhani, president of the Cinema Owners and Exhibitors’ Association, told IANS.
‘We are paying 45 percent entertainment tax. In many states, it has been abolished, but in Maharashtra we still have to pay it. Multiplexes also get concession but not the single screens. It has become very difficult for us to survive and the government should understand that,’ he added.
Earlier, there were around 1,080 single screen cinema halls in Maharashtra but only 650 are left.

Politicians should not use religion as agenda: Shah Rukh

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan says politicians should not use religion as an agenda and spread derogatory feelings about one another.
‘I don’t understand why it happens, but I truly believe that politicians should not use religion as an agenda,’ Shah Rukh said Friday at the India Today Conclave.
‘It is just not acceptable. The issues like education, women’s upliftment, leadership qualities, which are sidelined under the term of social issues, are the basic political issues which need to be looked upon and should be brought into light,’ he added.
The 45-year-old says religion is not subjective, but is all about having faith.
‘I am a Muslim myself but my children know about all religions and its my conscious decision to make them aware of it. Religion is nothing but to have faith in your god, it should not be subjected to Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian. Nobody in this world has the right to come between you and your god,’ he concluded firmly.

I am an untouchable for big banners, says Om Puri

He is one of India’s most respected actors, having done an enviable range of roles spanning not just the worlds of art house cinema and mainstream Bollywood but also the west. Om Puri, however, is still deeply dissatisfied and says he’s an ‘untouchable’ for commercial cinema.
‘I don’t get any meaty roles because there are hardly any meaty parts for character actors in our films,’ the 60-year-old actor, who is looking at directing a film in the future, told IANS in an interview.
Who can forget his comic timing in ‘Chachi 420’ and in that ultimate satire ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’, or his nuanced portrayals of grey characters in ‘Yuva’ and ‘Maqbool’. But the actor knows that he has a lot more to give.
‘I’ve not been fully utilised in commercial cinema. I mean the big banners have not touched me; I don’t know why I am an untouchable for them.
‘Barring Karan Johar, with whom I worked in ‘Kurbaan’ and now in the remake of ‘Agneepath’, other big banners usually don’t come to me,’ he said.
‘I think I will direct in the near future. I’ve still not seriously thought about it but occasionally I do think in that direction. So maybe in another five years, if I’m still around, I will take up direction.’
In his over 35-year acting journey, Om has given prolific performances in critically acclaimed non-commercial ventures, beginning with ‘Ardh Satya’ and moving on to films such as ‘Mirch Masala’, ‘Aakrosh’ and ‘Dharavi’. He also acted in English films like ‘East is East’ and ‘City of Joy’.
As far as commercial movies are concerned, after the success of ‘Hera Pheri’, the Padma Shri awardee has been mostly cast in comic roles in films like ‘Singh Is Kinng’ and ‘Malamaal Weekly’.
Om says he is not happy with the content of today’s comic capers and feels filmmakers need to work more on quality comedies.
‘It should have the quality of ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’. Lots of films have meaningless humour. In the recent past it was even worse. People used to laugh at the accent of a South Indian or a Bengali or a Punjabi or on a fat man. That was humour at the cost of someone else. But humour should be where everyone can enjoy together,’ he said.
His next is also a laugh riot called ‘Teen Thay Bhai’ and Om totally endorses it. ‘The script of this film is hilarious. I totally loved it.’
The film is a Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra production and helmed by debutant director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba. It is the story of three brothers who dislike one another and details how fate unites them. Slated to hit the marquee April 15, the cast also includes Deepak Dobriyal, Shreyas Talpade and Ragini Khanna.
Apart from liking the script, the actor agreed to the film because it was Mehra’s project, a filmmaker he deeply admires. The two have worked together in ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Delhi-6’.
‘I’m a great admirer of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s work. It’s his production though he is not directing it this time but he chose this project and I want to be in every film that he is associated with,’ said Om.
Apart from ‘Teen Thay Bhai’, the actor will be seen in films like ‘Life Goes On’, ‘Agneepath 2’ and ‘Don 2’.
