Up until the end of Season One, the final story of each episode showed actual footage of dangerous situations that almost ended in death, along with interviews with people involved in the situations. A portion of these deaths have been nominated for or have received a Darwin Award.
1000 Ways to Die takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to death through its presentation of stories derived from myths, science, and real-life incidents. The show is filled with black humor (particularly in the narration) which tempers the otherwise-somber theme of death. It portrays the deaths using live-action recreations of the events along with expert and sometimes witness testimony, also using CGI animations, similar to those used in the popular television show CSI, to illustrate the ways people have died. A narration provides background information within each death-story, which all end with titles that are puns on popular figures of speech. A warning is displayed at the start of every episode and includes the statements: "Do not attempt to try any of the actions depicted. You will die!"

Survivor: Redemption Island Season 21 Episode 4: Don't You Work for Me?

Survivor: Redemption Island Season 21 Episode 4 can be watched on Wednesday on March 9, 2011 at 8:00pm EST on WCBS (CBS) TV channel. Title of the brand new episode is: Don't You Work for Me? Synopsis of the episode is: Secrets are revealed on Redemption Island; a castaway cries after losing the duel.
Survivor: Redemption Island is the twenty-second season of the American CBS competitive reality television series Survivor, which premiered on February 16, 2011. Applications were due in January 2010, and filming lasted from August to September 2010. The season was filmed in the vicinity of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, the same place where the previous season was filmed. The show features returning players Russell Hantz and Rob Mariano, and 16 new players to Survivor.
The 22nd season of Survivor introduces a new concept, "Redemption Island", to the United States series based in part to the "Outcast" tribe from Survivor: Pearl Islands, and already used in foreign versions of the show, as The Island of the Dead in the Israeli version, Isla Purgatoryo in the Philippine version's second season, Ghost Island in the Serbian version's second season, and the duels in the 2002 Swedish edition. When a contestant is voted off their tribe, instead of leaving the game, they are taken to the area known as Redemption Island. There, they will have to sustain themselves in the same manner as when they were with their tribe, living on limited food and water supplies and shelter. When the next contestant is voted off, they are also sent to Redemption Island, and the two people will face off in a duel challenge; the challenge is watched by two members each from both tribes in an Arena constructed as an old ruined temple. The winner remains in the game, living at Redemption Island, while the loser is finally removed from the game and must remove their buff and throw it in a small fire pit upon exiting. At pre-determined points in the game, the person at Redemption Island will have a chance to return to the game and be reunited with the remaining players in the game.
Host Jeff Probst compared Redemption Island to the Pearl Islands's Outcast tribe, stating that the latter concept did not seem to work well with the audience because the Outcast twist was not revealed to the players ahead of time, and was considered unfair to the remaining players in the game. However, the Outcast tribe survived on the same meager rations as everybody else in the game. With Redemption Island, the players will be told at the start of the game of the existence and rules of Redemption Island, and Probst will expect this to have an impact on how the tribes will vote out members. Probst also stated that the change allows for the newer players a chance to recover from early mistakes such as choosing the wrong alliance or making a poor vote at Tribal Council. Entertainment Weekly's Dalton Ross speculates that due to the Redemption Island duel as part of each episode, all regular challenges in the show will be combined Reward/Immunity challenges until the tribes have been merged. The duels used at Redemption Island are scaled-back versions of previous challenges that the show has used; Probst stated this was because these challenges "worked well" and eliminated any risk of the challenge going astray. The idea for allowing other players to watch the duel was a last-minute addition made by Mark Burnett; according to Probst, it gives those that attend the duel "valuable information" they can use in their gameplay strategy, but may leave them vulnerable to alliance shifts that could occur while they were absent from the tribe.

Throwdown With Bobby Flay Season 9 Episode 8: Boston Cream Pie

Throwdown With Bobby Flay Season 9 Episode 8 can be watched on Wednesday on March 9, 2011 at 8:30pm EST on Food Network TV channel. Title of the brand new episode is: Boston Cream Pie. Synopsis of the episode is: Boston cream pie out of this world at Eunice Feller's bakery called Bread and Chocolate.
Throwdown! with Bobby Flay is a Food Network television program in which celebrity chef Bobby Flay challenges cooks renowned for a specific dish or type of cooking to a cook-off of their signature dish. At the beginning of each show, Flay receives – via bicycle messenger – a package detailing the chef he is to compete against as well as the dish. Examples of opponents include a skilled chili maker or a famous wedding cake designer. After practicing and preparing the item in question, Flay shows up for a surprise competition (or "Throwdown"). During the competition, both chefs prepare their particular version of the dish, and both are then evaluated by local judges to determine a winner.
Each show includes a mini-biography about the chef who is to be challenged, shown before the challenge takes place. The content for the biography is actually collected as part of an elaborate ruse or setup, where the chef or cook is told that they are going to be featured on a fictitious Food Network show. As part of the show, the featured chef (and their associated restaurant, if any) hosts a small party, which is then unexpectedly "crashed" by Bobby Flay. Upon Flay's arrival, he reveals the true nature of the show, and the "Throwdown" is initiated.
In the Food Network's test kitchen, Flay and his two sous-chefs (Stephanie Banyas and Miriam Garron) experiment and prepare the particular dish, often opting for a variant of the dish.
When Flay makes his appearance at a rival's event, he is usually greeted with surprise and confusion, although there has been one occasion where the challenged chef figured out that Flay would be appearing for a throwdown and ended up challenging him. Flay's comment was that he "had been set up." However, the rival usually quickly gets over the initial shock and warms up to the challenge. After the dishes are prepared, the two chefs taste each other's creations and are usually quite complimentary towards one another. Finally, the dishes are evaluated by one or more connoisseurs or notable veterans in that field (via a blind taste test), with the winner then being announced.
The format of the show does not edit or disguise Flay's lack of knowledge of technique regarding cooking for the challenge. He often makes use of New York City-area experts to teach him basic techniques. In other instances, he acknowledges the traditional approach to the dish but then explains how he will make it more modern or more his own style of cooking with various added ingredients.
Flay's record is 32 wins, 1 tie, and 68 losses. Flay has had great success with cake challenges, winning throwdowns for cheesecake and cupcakes in season 2, coconut cake and red velvet cake in season 5, and German chocolate cake in season 6. Flay's only cake throwdown losses were a wedding cake in season 1, Bûche de Noël in season 5, and Carrot cake and Pineapple Upside-down cake in season 8.
