Prateik beats Akki, Abhi
The actor beat Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan to land the lead role in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
Speculations about who will finally be Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Milkha Singh have been on for a while now. Initially, there were talks of Akshay Kumar stepping into the shoes of the Flying Sikh. Abhishek Bachchan, Mehra’s Delhi 6 man was also in the running.
However, it seems that Prateik Babbar has beat both the actors to land the lead role in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
Our source revealed, “Mehra wants bulk dates to finish the shoot for this film. He needs around nine months for workshops, rehearsals, and the shoot.
He had the same problem with Prateik who’s very busy with five films at the moment. However, since the script is good, Prateik is trying to take time out for the film.”
“Rakeysh is very keen on Prateik. The director has seen his work in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Dhobi Ghat and has realised his potential as an actor. Prateik is, however, keeping his lips sealed about the project,” added the source.
When we contacted Prateik, his spokesperson said, “We are not in a position to talk about this. Please get in touch with Rakyesh’s Omprakash Mehra Productions office.”
Bhaag Milkha Bhag will be the first biographical film to be made on a sports icon in India. Milkha Singh’s story is a stunning tale of the triumph of human spirit. He ran away from Pakistan during the partition, after witnessing all the bloodshed and losing his own parents, who were killed in front of him.
However, Milkha Singh is keen on having Akshay Kumar essay his character.
